Three local companies
(Singapore Technologies Group and two subsidiary
companies: InfoWare and WizVision), has
just signed a collaboration agreement with Shanghai
Fudan Microelectronic Co. Ltd, to develop
contactless multipurpose electronic
payment card, termed as the "Yikatong"
card.
The
key roles and responsibilities of the three Singapore companies are to
provide a total solution for this project– from the architecture, to
the network infrastructure, the technology and hardware required for
this payment card project.
Currently, there are many types of commercial cards in circulation in
Shanghai, which gave rise to problems due to the incompatibility of
various card systems. With the
all-in-one concept of "Yikatong"
card, it solves the issues of having too many cards. “Yikatong”
allow consumers to use it for payment at various retailers and at the
same time, gain multiple VIP loyalty points. This payment card works
as a single IC card, which has 1 cash wallet and 50-500 VIP loyalty
wallets for various individual merchants.
